How do environmental health, community health, and your personal health intersect?

A friend of mine has recently started a outdoor therapy program that utilizes forest bathing walks, something she has incorporated into an outdoor education curriculum for years. Another friend went along with one of her programs a few weeks ago and was reminded of how cathartic it could be. An excellent reminder that my home base in the city may not always be what I need to stay healthy.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Happiness
How does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?

It helps me not focus on what I don't have and focus on taking care of what is already around me.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Walk Instead
Half of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Do you feel that this fact applies to you? If so, how might you incorporate more muscle-powered transportation in your daily life?

I am privileged enough to live close enough to work to walk everyday. It's a great way to wake up before coming in to the office.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Choose Organic Ingredients
It is often said that “you can’t feed the world with just organic food.” What is your response to that statement?

    Redistribution of resources.

Who said that? You obviously can't feed the whole world with "just" anything. This reminds me of the question "How do you eat an elephant?" One bite at a time!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Exercise Daily
How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

By taking extra long walks with my dog.

I do the same thing as Jessica! When I know that my dog is having a great time, I am more motivated to keep walking.
