REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthTo what extent do you believe that environmental factors contribute to your own health or issues with health?
Tyler Ron 10/15/2019 6:20 AMHonestly, I'd never really considered it. Especially since I've always lived a notoriously unhealthy lifestyle. But now that I've started taking my health seriously and changing my lifestyle, I find that the effects of seemingly small factors can actually have a great impact. And it seems to me that if you're going to drastically change everything about how you live to become healthier, changing something as mundane as cleaning products is a must. Also, it's worth mentioning that environment factors, more than anything, have an extreme effect on mental health. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience differ while walking, riding transit, biking, or driving?
Tyler Ron 10/08/2019 1:24 PMDriving and riding transit both give me some amount of anxiety. Walking is usually some degree of peaceful, but I find myself most at ease while biking. I find that I connect with my environment a lot more when I bike, and I'm more connected to reality when I get to work and for the rest of the day. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodMichael Pollan states that “it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor.” What are your thoughts on this idea?
Tyler Ron 10/08/2019 1:22 PMI have a hard time correlating these ideas since I use the grocer and the doctor for such different purposes. For example, I have no health issues related to food or exercise, however I struggle with a hip injury. I can however relate to preventing future complications such as diabetes, which is part of the reason I've lost over 50lbs. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHigh Impact Action TrackIn North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?
