Last night I took some of the extra zucchini from my garden and made some bread.  It tastes great and I can give some to my neighbors.  Win win!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health Audit Toxic Cleaning Products in my Home
To what extent do you believe that environmental factors contribute to your own health or issues with health?

Environmental factors play a huge role in health and possible issues with health.  Having an environment free of chemicals and toxic materials is important for everyone, especially pets and children.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community Volunteer in my Community
What is one thing you can do to help your community become more sustainable?

I love volunteering at the Oregon Food Bank.  They do so much more than give food to people in need.  They also work with businesses to save food from going bad and turn it into another item (ie vegetables going back turned into soup).  This helps the environment, people in need, and lessens waste.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water 5-Minute Showers
Five minute showers are an impressive step toward reducing your water footprint. What is the next step you can take?

My next step is to reduce the amount of water I use when washing the dishes.  I tend to leave the water running while I wash, when I could actually turn the water off.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Nature Go for a Daily Walk
How do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?

I get to see more of my neighborhood this way.  I notice what my neighbors are doing, how the leaves are changing, and what else is going on.  Some days I even run into my neighbors on my walk!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Recycle Everything I Can
What have you learned about what is accepted by local haulers for recycling, what you can drop off or ship to certain places, and what is not recyclable in your area? What is the most difficult part of recycling for you?

    Laura Rogers's avatar
    Laura Rogers 9/30/2019 2:04 PM
Things are very easy for me to recycle in my area.  I also live with someone who recycles polystyrene, so we are able to reduce our impact on landfill even more.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Healthy Sleep
Consider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?

    Laura Rogers 9/30/2019 2:02 PM
I want to get at least seven hours of sleep per night.  I am going to start my bedtime routine earlier and limit my screen time after 8:45 pm.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Try a New Way to Prep
Canning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?

I am going to harvest zucchini from my garden tonight.  I am going to freeze some of it and bake with the rest.
