    Did lots of learning this eco-challenge, learned a lot about how actions I am already taking are impacting, and how easy it was to make an even bigger impact. Those 5 minute showers turned out to be pretty easy to accomplish.

    In some areas pop is cheaper and easier to get than clean water, so the impoverished are forced to make the decision between more expensive water or cheaper soda which is of course unhealthy for them.

    I used to live in Southern California, where onshore winds blew all of the smog towards downtown, and the mountain range held the smog in. Here in the valley we do not have those issues, we also have significantly more trees and rain to keep us clearer.

    Canning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?

    I would love to can fresh tropical foods like pineapple, mango, papaya etc.

    I am very susceptible to changes that affect my breathing. I am fortunate to live in an area that has limited smog.

    Lower income families who are unable to afford alternatives, or to move, are unfortunately forced to live in these conditions.
