Brandon's actions
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
High Impact Action Track
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Waste
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
High Impact Action Track
Ditch the Lawn
Water
I will replace my lawn with a drought-tolerant landscape and save the water, money, and time I used to spend cutting the grass.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?
Brandon Navas 10/03/2019 11:29 AMI have collapse-able insta-crates and reuseable bags stored in my car. Even in the horrible situation i have forgotten to take them into the store with me, I can walk the unbagged items in the cart back to my car and secure them there. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Skip the StrawHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Brandon Navas 10/02/2019 12:03 PMI have found this item much easier to accomplish by both having a reusable bottle with a small diameter mouth piece and by asking for drinks with no ice when at restaurants.-
Brandon Navas 10/03/2019 11:23 AMIdeally a small enough diameter to fit comfortably in you mouth and past your teeth to avoid any possible tooth temperature sensitivity you may have. Also, don't choke. -
Ben Fitch 10/03/2019 11:17 AMBrandon. Thank you for your reflection. By chance, have you discovered what is the optimal diameter of a mouth piece to promote maximum hydration?
