Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How do your eating experiences differ when practicing mindfulness?

The meal that is hardest for me to practice mindfulness with is dinner. Usually, I would make my meal, sit on the couch, and flip through the channels until I find something I liked to watch while I ate. Sometimes, this takes so long that my food grows cold before I find a show I liked. Today, I made the conscious effort to sit on the dining room table and not turn the TV on while I ate dinner. I find that if I allot dinner time to just eating dinner, I tend to enjoy my meal more and I eat at a slower and more even pace. Also, I am less likely to just leave my plate in the sink and wash it right away if I don't have any distractions.
