T.J.'s actions
Waste
Go Paperless
I will reduce the amount of paper mail that I receive by 3.4lbs (1.5kg) a month or 41lbs (18.6kg) a year by opting into paperless billing, ending unwanted subscriptions and opting out of junk mail.
Nature
Leave No Trace
I will practice the seven principles of Leave No Trace when doing nature activities alone or with family and friends.
Simplicity
Eat Mindfully
I will eat all of my meals without distractions, e.g., phone, computer, TV, or newspaper.
Water
Install a Low-Flow Showerhead
I will save up to 15 gallons (56 L) of water a day by installing a low-flow showerhead.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Install a Low-Flow ShowerheadHow can your region/household prepare for changing water situations in order to become more resilient?
T.J. Morton 10/16/2019 8:01 AMIrrigation and residential lawn watering must be discussed at a community/state level. Watering during the heat of a summer day or during windy conditions wastes precious water resources. Idaho Falls no longer sits on an infinite aquifer - with the boom in population, we must work together to conserve water. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Eat MindfullyMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How do your eating experiences differ when practicing mindfulness?
T.J. Morton 10/16/2019 7:58 AMI eat less and my relationship with my wife improves as we actually talk with one another. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Leave No TraceEducator Stephanie Kaza advises her students to focus on what they care about most when addressing the enormity of ecological problems. Is there a specific area you feel particularly called to work on?
T.J. Morton 10/09/2019 8:17 AMI am compelled to work on sustainable trails and to educate users on their impacts on the environment when they damage trails or build their own. Don't go around mud and create huge mud bogs in low lying areas. Avoid trails when they are muddy and save outdoor areas for everyone.
