Christian 's actions
Nature
Tend a Garden
I will tend to a garden each day, or work on starting one.
Water
5-Minute Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 1 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 5 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Transportation
Try Carpooling
I will commute by carpool 2 mile(s) each day and avoid sending up to 23.32 lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Christian Markiewicz 10/17/2019 5:35 AMYou have to clean the reusable water bottle which can be a little obnoxious. Tap water is often warm and doesn’t always taste good. These are the main reasons I used plastic water bottles. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater 5-Minute ShowersFive minute showers are an impressive step toward reducing your water footprint. What is the next step you can take?
Christian Markiewicz 10/14/2019 7:57 PMKeeping the water off when brushing my teeth, and to only turn on the water when I need to wet my toothbrush. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Try CarpoolingWhat are the factors that influence your choice of transportation? These can include things like money, time, and convenience, as well as perceptions of danger or safety.
Christian Markiewicz 10/10/2019 6:25 AMMy friend drives me to and from school. I benefits me because I can sleep in more and I don’t have to be driven in by my parents. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Tend a GardenHave you ever had a significant experience in nature that altered your perspective or focus? If so, please describe it.
Christian Markiewicz 10/09/2019 8:18 AMYes I went to my friends cabin in Ligonier and the entire area was full of wildlife in the woods. It was a very surreal experience. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Skip the StrawHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Christian Markiewicz 10/08/2019 5:42 AMYou could have a bin or something in your house to put recyclables in to remind you about recycling
