Support Resilient Powergrids
A community can be brought to its knees without dependable power, often affecting the most vulnerable. I will write 1 letter(s) or email(s) per day to a public official or company to advocate for a more resilient power grid (e.g. microgrids, solar+storage).

Pamela Letourneau 10/23/2019 5:56 PMThanks for these challenges. As someone at their 78th year, there's plenty still to do. Oh, and I found an organic fair trade clothing option. Yes. -
Pamela Letourneau 10/23/2019 5:55 PMI was really challenged by the grateful activity, but I was able to turn my head away from all the awful news and think about and write to those who make me grateful. Yay. And I really did stop driving my car on certain days, walking to where I needed to go. So far 2 days/week. I'm setting a goal of 3 days for the near future using the Smart Train which is 5 minutes from my place. Wish it went more places I need to go. -
Pamela Letourneau 10/19/2019 8:34 AMOne of the most enjoyable plus ecological activities I do is work our local apple press. People bring apples from their trees, neighbors or purchase and can press for free. We also did 10 schools this year and every child went back to school with a quart jug of freshly pressed apple juice. The pomace is picked up by local farmers or individuals and taken to their animals or compost piles. A great activity! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Drive LessHow has your access to various kinds of transportation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?
Pamela Letourneau 10/09/2019 8:10 AMWorking on this. Just signed a petition for transit to the parks- great idea to get some of us who don't wish to drive to a park an option. Taking the Smart Train to SF to shop at the farmers market in a couple of weeks. Quite an endeavor since I live in Sonoma County. Wonder when the Larkspur connection will be ready for the ferry! Have to check it out. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Learn About & Practice Sustainable FashionHow can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?
Pamela Letourneau 10/09/2019 8:06 AMI have the list of fabrics and stores. Will begin to explore online -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Know My healthHow do you deal with the physical and emotional stress of the big problems we face? How can you help others cope?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Support Resilient PowergridsWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for that vision to become reality?
Pamela Letourneau 10/09/2019 7:47 AMAs we enter a power shutdown in Sonoma County, this challenge is especially timely. We need to get moving in CA to a more sustainable power grid. There is too much control of our power from one company. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Pamela Letourneau 10/09/2019 7:44 AMIn the digital world full of all the terrible things happening to people and the planet, by taking control of my own mind I can begin to see how many things daily are worthy of gratitude. It doesn't mean to ignore what's going on, but it gives some personal reflection on the amount of wonderful things people are doing every day to make each other's lives better.
