  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Go Paperless
Reducing your paper mail can be such a freeing action to take -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

I am excited. Going through paper mail always seems like a never ending task, so I am excited to see this decrease soon.

How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

I usually like to run outside a couple of times a week. I've started to run while my son rides his bike next to me. This gets us both out of the house and doing something fun together that also benefits our health.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

I use my purse if the items are small enough. Usually I would accept a disposable one, but admittedly it had not occurred to me to just carry everything out in the cart or basket to my car. I always have reusable bags in my trunk so it would be easy for me to then put everything in one in the trunk. I recently saw a very compact reusable bag that would fit into my purse so I always have one with me. This would help me, especially at places that aren't grocery stores, where I am less likely to remember to bring in a reusable bag.

What are other easy things you could do to save energy and reduce your environmental footprint?

I'm in the habit of charging my phone every night, but I recently upgraded and my battery will last me two days. So, charging it only when I need to or every other night is another simple change that I can make.
