I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Waste
Go Paperless
I will reduce the amount of paper mail that I receive by 3.4lbs (1.5kg) a month or 41lbs (18.6kg) a year by opting into paperless billing, ending unwanted subscriptions and opting out of junk mail.
Simplicity
Meditate
I will meditate or create a moment of silence for 30 minute(s) each day to reflect on things important to me.
Energy
Power Down the Computer
I will power down my computer and monitor when not using it for more than 2 hours, saving up to (1.1) lbs of CO2 each day that I do this.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Go PaperlessReducing your paper mail can be such a freeing action to take -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?
Marissa Leavitt 10/17/2019 4:50 PMI am excited. Going through paper mail always seems like a never ending task, so I am excited to see this decrease soon. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Marissa Leavitt 10/03/2019 9:28 AMI usually like to run outside a couple of times a week. I've started to run while my son rides his bike next to me. This gets us both out of the house and doing something fun together that also benefits our health. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?
Marissa Leavitt 10/02/2019 9:46 AMI use my purse if the items are small enough. Usually I would accept a disposable one, but admittedly it had not occurred to me to just carry everything out in the cart or basket to my car. I always have reusable bags in my trunk so it would be easy for me to then put everything in one in the trunk. I recently saw a very compact reusable bag that would fit into my purse so I always have one with me. This would help me, especially at places that aren't grocery stores, where I am less likely to remember to bring in a reusable bag. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Power Down the ComputerWhat are other easy things you could do to save energy and reduce your environmental footprint?
Marissa Leavitt 10/02/2019 9:40 AMI'm in the habit of charging my phone every night, but I recently upgraded and my battery will last me two days. So, charging it only when I need to or every other night is another simple change that I can make.
