Rose Jackson 10/02/2019 4:09 PMI love this challenge myself. I don't use plastic anymore. I use my own bags made of hemp and other materials when I go shopping for groceries. I use glass utensils instead of plastic. I am trying to can most of my produce so I can reduce plastic bags in the freezer as well. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Rose Jackson 10/02/2019 4:07 PMI've been eating a lot more plant based meals and also eating more protein in seeds and nuts. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Choose Organic IngredientsIt is often said that “you can’t feed the world with just organic food.” What is your response to that statement?
Rose Jackson 10/02/2019 4:06 PMI have grown my own organic vegetables in my garden which I utilize each day and at the end of the growing season, I can and/or freeze what I have an abundance of to use throughout the Winter months. I've also shared my crops with my neighbors. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Watch a Documentary about Food SovereigntyHow does food sovereignty address the complex agrarian transition to modern food systems?
Rose Jackson 10/02/2019 4:04 PMI watched a documentary on wild rice within the indigenous nations ecosystems and how they are trying to increase productivity. Wild rice is a locally grown food source that has high protein and nutrient essentials to sustainability and hopefully the grains are not toxic from the polluted air and waters that they grow near. As long as people take the time to realize the commercial food that is consumed from major chains are usually toxic to a certain extent because of chemical applications to crops or hormones injected into animals. Food needs to be grown back on the local level with no chemicals and only natural pest control like essential oil plant species.
