Brenda Grant 10/08/2019 11:04 AMI purchased some mesh produce bags (they are available on Amazon in all kinds of sizes) that I use now for my produce at the store. I figure in the year I have been using them exclusively I have avoided using 100 of the plastic bags at the store. I also use my own canvas bags for groceries instead of the plastic bags at the store.

Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 2 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Health
Healthy Sleep
Effectively working for sustainability requires self care! I will commit to getting 15 more minute(s) of sleep each night to achieve at least 7 hours per night.
Waste
Learn About & Practice Sustainable Fashion
I will spend 5 minutes learning about sustainable fashion and begin trying to practice it in my own life.
Simplicity
Buy Used Clothes
I will spend 10 minutes learning about the perils of fast fashion and will buy my clothes at second-hand stores when I shop.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteBringing your own bags and containers to the grocery store, and even to restaurants for leftovers, are a couple of ways to reduce your waste. What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Jade Hott 10/07/2019 3:30 PMA single-use item that I regularly utilize is plastic Ziploc bags for my packed lunches. I have purchased a re-useable sandwich container and other containers to reduce the number of plastic ziplock bags sent to the landfill.
