Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 3 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.

Healthy Sleep
Effectively working for sustainability requires self care! I will commit to getting 60 more minute(s) of sleep each night to achieve at least 7 hours per night.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Say No to Plastic StrawsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Tennyson Holmes 10/21/2019 8:27 AMI consistently use straws, coffee cups, and plastic cups. To substitute straws I could drink from the brim or use biodegradable straws. As for coffee cups I could use mugs more or even a thermos that I can wash and reuse. Finally, for plastic cups, I can use water bottles or other washable reusable containers so that I don't consistently go through multiple plastic cups a day. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Tennyson Holmes 10/21/2019 6:46 AMI can incorporate this by utilizing the recreation center more when hanging out with friends. So instead of us just sitting around playing video games we can also go play basketball, lift, or go on a run together. It's a great way to hang out and makes exercising much easier. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Healthy SleepConsider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?
Tennyson Holmes 10/21/2019 6:45 AMI'd like to consistently get the same amount of sleep every night. There are days (like weekends) where I get up to 9 hours of sleep, but my sleeping pattern is terrible. I'll go to bed at 2 am and wake up at 11 or 12. Other nights I'll go to bed at 1 am and wake up at 6 am. The way I'm going to make my sleep cycle more consistent is by doing my school work in the day and then trying to go to bed Monday-Friday at 11 pm at the latest. In addition to this, I will have an alarm set for every weekday at 8:30 am and for weekends at 10 am. This way my body at least gets into a consistent sleep cycle.
