This has been such a good challenge this year.  I'm so glad I participated. I'm really looking forward to continuing the process and adding new challenges next year.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Choose Two-Sided Printing
Choosing two-sided printing can be an easy adjustment on your computer settings. How can you help others make this same switch? Can it be encouraged company wide?

In theory it should be an easy adjustment, but there are certain documents we print that do require single sided only.  We all just need to remember and be mindful when we are printing to choose double sided as often as possible. This can be, and is, encouraged company wide.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water Conserve Toilet Water
What would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?

I live in an area that gets quite a bit of rain.  In my mind sustainable water means doing things like limiting shower times, not watering the lawn in the summer, making sure things like the washing machine and dishwasher are full. I think the ability to collect and use rainwater would allow us to help out places that are in drought situations.

How is creativity necessary for practicing simplicity?

When you are really practicing simplicity, you are being very mindful of your purchasing, which means that you must be creative in how you use your existing items to their fullest potential.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Reduce refined sugar
Before you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now?

I definitely knew I was addicted to sugar prior to the challenge. I have replaced refined sugars with more natural things like fruit. Better for my overall health. No cravings. Yay!

Being a part of this challenge last year was a revelation for me.  I took a good long look at my health and habits and was able to make really good changes in my life.  I've lost over 95 pounds and continue to make smart decisions for myself and my family.
