REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Less Screen TimeWhat did you notice in implementing this challenge? Was it hard to choose other activities over screen time? How did you decide to spend your time?
Tess Hamberg 10/23/2019 7:30 AMThis challenge helped me realize how important it is to reduce screen time in order to be more productive and present. It was difficult to choose other activities, especially when I needed a 'brain break' and naturally wanted to pick up my phone, but I chose to fill my time with reading, coloring and breathing exercises. Overall, I feel less stressed! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Know My healthHow do you deal with the physical and emotional stress of the big problems we face? How can you help others cope?
Tess Hamberg 10/21/2019 10:49 AMI deal with physical and emotional stress by ensuring I have a support system and strong coping mechanisms in place! I'm a huge advocate for physical activity, in any form you prefer and enjoy. Getting up, getting outside and getting moving (even in small strides) makes a huge difference to help boost your mood and alleviate mental stress. Remember - humans were built for locomotion! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Tess Hamberg 10/14/2019 7:51 AMYesterday I went for a beautiful 7-mile run in Central Park! There's nothing like 'escaping' the city within the city, enjoying nature and being active all at the same time. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Tess Hamberg 10/10/2019 12:00 PMWalking, instead of driving, allows me to slow down (literally and figuratively) so I can appreciate my surroundings more and be in the moment, all while engaging in a healthy action! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity MeditateWhat would you like to invest more time in reflecting on?
Tess Hamberg 10/08/2019 6:16 AMDuring our Mindful Monday session yesterday, I spent time reflecting on the season change and all the fun things that fall has to bring! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Learn More about Food DesertsWhat are the implications of access to nutritious food for a community?
Tess Hamberg 10/04/2019 11:33 AMAccess to nutritious food can have major impacts on a person's social determinants of health. Healthy food options can enhance well-being, support local vendors and improve overall health. Lack of access leads to poorer food choices and high incidence of chronic disease.
