I will meditate or create a moment of silence for 5 minute(s) each day to reflect on things important to me.

I will create or support a sharing economy with family, friends, and neighbors.
High Impact Action Track
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Waste
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.

Paige Gyldersleve 10/07/2019 7:04 AMSo far so good with this year's challenge. I'm enjoying the time to connect with myself and my community. I'm experimenting with ways of reducing single use plastics like taking my own to-go container when we eat at a restaurant. -
Paige Gyldersleve 10/02/2019 9:06 AMFirst day. Started strong with meditation first thing in the morning, checking in on my community group on social media to see what was happening, and using my durable coffee cup. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity MeditateWhat would you like to invest more time in reflecting on?
Paige Gyldersleve 10/02/2019 9:05 AMI need to spend more time turning off my analyzing brain and just being there in the moment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHigh Impact Action Track Reduce Single-Use DisposablesBringing your own bags and containers to the grocery store, and even to restaurants for leftovers, are a couple of ways to reduce your waste. What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Paige Gyldersleve 10/02/2019 8:57 AMI still fall into the trap of not always having my reusable coffee cup or a takeaway container. I've started keeping durable coffee cups (hot and cold) at work and I'm looking at buying a thermos for a lightweight way to carry leftovers home when I eat out. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Support A Sharing EconomyWhat benefits does the sharing economy offer to your own life? To your neighbors' and community members' lives?
Paige Gyldersleve 10/02/2019 8:55 AMI think that the biggest benefit to me has been getting to know my neighbors through sharing. I grew up in a small town and have felt isolated in the city. -
Paige Gyldersleve 10/01/2019 10:42 AMI look forward to this challenge every year as a time to fine tune my practices. I recently got involved in my local Buy Nothing group and it has been revolutionary for me to be a part of the sharing economy.
