Camille's actions
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 7 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Recycle Everything I Can
Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will research and recycle all materials that are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community, making sure to not contaminate recyclables with non-recyclables.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 4 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 4 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 30-minute walk outside each day.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Skip the StrawHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Camille Gutierrez 10/22/2019 1:54 PMI think that I can start to incorporate more "R's" into my lifestyle is by reusing plastic water bottles and try not to use as much plastic. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Recycle Everything I CanWhat have you learned about what is accepted by local haulers for recycling, what you can drop off or ship to certain places, and what is not recyclable in your area? What is the most difficult part of recycling for you?
Camille Gutierrez 10/22/2019 1:47 PMGrowing up, especially in elementary school me and my family were told about recycling and how it is good for the environment and we should start to recycle at our own houses. I eventually got into the habit of doing it and got my family to as well. I think that the hardest part about recycling for me now is remembering to do it because sometimes i slip up and throw a can away or a piece of paper. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Camille Gutierrez 10/22/2019 1:37 PMI think that the barriers that I could have when using a reusable bottle is not always having it filled or there might not be a place for me to refill it. I've pretty much have been in the habit of using a reusable bottle, but there are times where I don't always have my reusable bottle and I have to resort to buying a plastic one. So I want to try and get into the habit of bringing my reusable bottle almost everywhere I go especially at school. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Camille Gutierrez 10/22/2019 1:10 PMAlmost everyday I go for a walk by myself or I take my little brothers with me. It's always nice going for a walk around my neighborhood because I know almost every one that lives there.
