Alison's actions
Simplicity
Track my Purchases
I will spend 5 minutes each day maintaining a record of all my purchases and learning about my spending habits.
Food
Weekly Meal Planning

Reduce refined sugar
I will adopt a diet free of refined sugars, which eliminates sweetened beverages, candy, and processed foods.
Simplicity
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a walk for 10 minutes each day.
Nature
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 10 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside.

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Go for a Daily WalkFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Alison Dyer 10/08/2019 9:40 AMIt helps me reset. It is very easy for me to get completely absorbed in my computer while I'm at work. I get very focused and just want to get through all my lists; getting up and going for a walk makes me more productive and enables me to step out and then back into my work. It's necessary and I need to push myself to do it daily! -
Alison Dyer 10/07/2019 1:38 PMSpent the entire weekend meal prepping and then FORGOT my food Monday morning! Ugh! The struggles of forming habits! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Alison Dyer 10/02/2019 1:20 PMYes - this rings true! The less time I spend interacting with people and being outdoors, the more I feel like I have forgotten how to do so! Being an introvert makes it very easy for me to justify staying inside for an entire day. My goal is to push myself to get up from my computer and go for more daily walks. And when walking, I want to be present and really notice the environment around me. -
Alison Dyer 10/02/2019 1:08 PMJust started an October financial calendar for myself. Going to log my daily purchases and really meditate each day on my spending habits. Scary but necessary! Love how the ecochallenge pushes me!-

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Track my PurchasesWhat have you noticed about your purchases? Where are you inclined to make shifts, if any?
Alison Dyer 9/30/2019 12:23 PMI already know that I sometimes do a bit of "stress purchasing". I am inclined to become more aware of this and to do less Amazon shopping after 2 glasses of wine...
