Harmonee's actions
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 3 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Simplicity
Support a Sharing Economy
I will create or support a sharing economy with family, friends, and neighbors.
Water
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 2 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.
Simplicity
De-Clutter My Home
I will de-clutter, clean, and donate or recycle unneeded items in my home.
Energy
Turn it off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Water
Install a Toilet Tank Bank
I will reduce the amount of water flushed and save up to 11 gallons (41 L) of water each day by installing a toilet tank bank.
Energy
Switch to Cold Water
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 1,600 lbs of CO2 over the course of the next year.

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Support a Sharing EconomyWhat are some of the barriers to sharing economies? What is your plan for supporting or creating one in your community?
Harmonee Dashiell 10/23/2019 1:48 PMTrust. It's hard to know you are going to get something back if you lend it out. Also can be frustrating when you connect and arrange pick up or drop off of an item and the other person does not show :-( -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Say No to Plastic StrawsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Harmonee Dashiell 10/04/2019 4:24 PMplastic bags. I could use containers or paper. More re-usable coffee cups. I also need to specifically ask not to get a straw. I always have metal ones with me but many times I get my drink and it already has the plastic one in it.
