How might impact investing help you better live your values?

My 401k is now changed to socially responsible funds with impact investing. Feels great to not be handing money to the fossil fuel industry. Money unfortunately rules many things in this world and if we all stopped contributing to greedy corporations that are polluting our world then the companies would be out of business. It feels pretty awesome to make this change.

Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

We all need to eat less meat. I am seriously considering becoming a vegetarian.

How is creativity necessary for practicing simplicity?

To practice simplicity you need to think what purpose will this serve. Do I really need this or is it just a nice to have? As a child growing up in the 80's, it was all about what you have and keeping up with everyone else. Even though we did not have money to have a lot, this consumerism mentality was absorbed into me and has taken me at least a decade to re-train my brain to not buy unnecessary crap. I feel better without stuff everywhere and would gladly trade a bunch if nick-knacks  for a nice vacation and enjoy the moment.

    Simplicity Limit Social Media
Social media can keep us connected with loved ones, make us laugh, and help us to learn new things. It can also take more time than we realize or intend to give. After doing this action for a few days, how do you feel? What do you notice?

Facebook is a huge time suck! And although I do like seeing what my cousins and their kids are up to, most of the crap on their is just fluff. I feel so much better only checking in once or twice a week instead of every day.

    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

Americans are horrible about wasting food. I am not as bad as most, but could always do better. We always have leftovers and are pretty good about eating them up. I like to freeze half if I make a big batch so that we have an easy week day dinner. Any non-meat food we do waste is composted in our backyard, so we really don't throw out much food. Any money saved can be used towards something fun, like a family vacation.
