Reflecting on the challenge, I think if anything, reading about all of the different types of challenges was a good reminder of the large and small things we can do to make an impact. Seeing the numbers add up each day has been a real motivator to see just how high we could get them.

Only a couple of days left. This week I’m doing an overnighter during some of my back to back towns that I’m travelling in. This will help to reduce my mileage by over 300 miles. While I used to come home every night, I try and do this type of coordination to cut down on the amount of mileage I’m doing. Good for the environment, good for my car.

I've gone the whole week having my son carpool home from his track meets to reduce the amount I have to use my car. I have also suggested to my son that he start a recycling project at his school when I found out they don't have convenient bins to use. Will see how that plays out.

I asked my 3 year old what she thinks recycling means. She said, “taking all the garbage to the green bin.”  When I asked my 15 year old son, he said “not pissing you off.”  Hahahaha

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Skip the Straw
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

    Renee Clement 10/16/2019 5:43 PM
Incorporating the “R”s into my lifestyle is not only ongoing,  but something I can improve on. The best way is to reduce spending. That will automatically “resize” and “refuse.” Unnecessary waste in my life. I already try to repurpose items, and recycle everything I can.

Meal prepping to make large batches of food using some produce we picked. Getting hungry just thinking about it.
