Have deep spiritual conversations in the lineup while waiting for the next wave in pumping conditions. For instance, just this morning I discussed life and death with a friend of mine after watching him drop straight off a house-sized wave right in front of me. Watching him crank his arms around at least 3-1/2 times on the way down really made me think. I thought, "Dear God, i'm glad that wasn't me!" He's young and can take that abuse. We proceeded to have a great session with plenty of quality time, in nature.
