Chrissy's actions
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 4 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 3 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 4 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Transportation
Use Public Transit
I will use public transit 17 mile(s) each day and avoid sending up to 0.51 lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Transportation
Learn More and Talk to My Friends
Access to public transportation is a social justice issue! I will learn about the need for public transportation in my community and tell 1 friends each day about the issue.

Chrissy Bynum 10/22/2019 11:14 AMI'm so excited I found these amazing reusable straws and now I'm able to share and encourage others to use them too. It was a pack of 24...now I have them in my purse in my car, backpack...etc. -
Chrissy Bynum 10/09/2019 9:51 AMI feel honored to work for the Bureau of Transportation and see first hand the passion that our team has to reduce our carbon footprint. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Chrissy Bynum 10/03/2019 7:52 AMIt can be difficult to change the habit especially with the order apps at our favorite coffee places. I'm still working on this one. I'm really trying to just drink my coffee in the office. :)-
Sadie Silkie 10/09/2019 10:00 AMFor me, it helped to find a mug that I really love holding and looking at, so I enjoy taking it with me.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Chrissy Bynum 10/03/2019 7:51 AMI'm working on always having metal water bottles in my car or backpack. My family is getting in the habit of carrying them everywhere we go. We have all decided that it is a must. We do not buy water anymore, we use a brita pitcher and fill our metal water bottle and or refill where we are. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Skip the StrawHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Chrissy Bynum 10/03/2019 7:48 AMI made a family decision for the Christmas holiday that our family members will be gifting something used or homemade. The family is so excited to see what each of us come up with. I love reusing and re purposing items. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Learn More and Talk to My FriendsHow has your access to various kinds of transportation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?
Chrissy Bynum 10/03/2019 7:46 AMI'm an Oregonian who lived about 13 years in Florida and I come to realize in a very short time that we have a wonderful bus system. The community I lived in which had very elderly people there was no alternate transportation options. Portland Keep up the Good Work. -
Chrissy Bynum 10/02/2019 8:52 AMI'm excited to improve my habits to be part of the solution and not part of the problem.
