Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

One of the barriers is the uncertain quality you get from tap water. While the government regulates the water treatment in the United States, it just regulates it enough so people don't die from drinking it. The water is still not as good as some water you can purchase in bottles. By planning ahead and filling water containers up before leaving the house, I can rely on the fact that I am drinking water that has been filtered an additional time to ensure I am consuming as good of quality water as I can.

    Waste Use a Reusable Mug
Maybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

I take comfort in knowing that I am contributing less waste by reusing certain items and owning products that are made from recycled items. By being satisfied with what I own and not wanting newer and "cooler" products, I am reducing less waste by using the mugs that I own for as long as I can. Part of the challenge of producing less waste is the consumer in all of us. TV and internet adds are focused on "making" us want new products that we don't need thus creating more waste by throwing out perfectly good items for the newer one.

    Food Choose Organic Ingredients
It is often said that “you can’t feed the world with just organic food.” What is your response to that statement?

I think as technology becomes more advanced, it will be more financially efficient to use new farming methods to supply vegetables with organic treatments than it is today. New methods will help to produce food with less resources and hopefully this will help to be able to produce more food with less artificial treatments.

    Food Whole Foods Diet
Michael Pollan states that “it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor.” What are your thoughts on this idea?

I think spending a little more on quality organic food will contribute to good health and prevent more doctor visits in the future.

    Transportation Work from Home
It takes the average worker in the United States 26 minutes to travel to work. One way to fix long commutes would be to make cities more affordable. An even simpler option: promote the use of telework. Are you in an industry that would allow you to work from home? What are some obstacles you might find yourself facing while working from home?

You'll need a designated work space that you can go to and have little to no distractions. To work remotely effectively, you will need reliable internet and a system in place for your coworkers to contact you such as Skype. Working remotely can be a solution for a wide variety of challenges such as overcrowded highways, expanding office space, and stress related mental health. With the right discipline, a person can be even more productive working remotely without the stress of commuting and dealing with difficult coworkers.
