REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Personal Waste AuditWhy is it so difficult to understand the impacts our purchases and waste have on other people, animals, and places? How might your experience with this challenge impact your future consumption and choices?
Cathy Brett 10/21/2019 6:49 PMI've been paying attention to single use package and purchasing based on packaging lately. It isn't always easy but there are a few things easy to do -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Find Local Recycling DepotsOur ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?
Cathy Brett 10/20/2019 8:01 PMInteresting enough glass is an issue for our city. Workers at the recycling system doesn't support glass and jams the machine. Glass machines are very expensive so they ship it elsewhere, making it not so carbon neutral. I'm checking out an alternative near my home that collects glass at Foco Cafe -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Go by BikeHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience differ while walking, riding transit, biking, or driving?
Cathy Brett 10/20/2019 7:58 PMProbably the two things that drive my decision about riding my bike to work or to downtown are the weather and my work schedule, The weather is usually pretty good this time of year but if it turns in the afternoon it is usually pretty brutal, cold or windy. My work schedule varies being on a global team and the hours of the meetings vary day-to-day making it hard to commit to a set schedule. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Cathy Brett 10/20/2019 7:56 PMLove walking all around my neighborhood seeing new things along the river, along the alleyways and discovering new trails off the beaten path. Additionally, my dog is loving this as he loves to swim in the river on our walks. -

-
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Limit Social MediaSocial media can keep us connected with loved ones, make us laugh, and help us to learn new things. It can also take more time than we realize or intend to give. After doing this action for a few days, how do you feel? What do you notice?
