Fast fashion uses so many toxic chemicals that leech into waterways, affecting the water supply of underprivileged communities while also polluting waterways with microplastics that kill aquatic life. Everything we purchase has some sort of impact and we have the power make smart decisions!

Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Learn About & Practice Sustainable FashionHow can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?
Annalise Bianco 10/15/2019 12:18 PMMy friends and I do seasonal clothing swaps! This is such a fun way to mix up your wardrobe without buying a thing. Additionally, I have been doing embroidery on my clothes to express creativity. It's a fun hobby and gives everything you own a personal touch.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Reduce Single-Use DisposablesBringing your own bags and containers to the grocery store, and even to restaurants for leftovers, are a couple of ways to reduce your waste. What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Annalise Bianco 10/15/2019 9:06 AMVegetable bags are occasionally used in the grocery store but I recently ordered reusable mesh bags to take instead-
France Poulain 10/15/2019 11:02 AMI use mesh produce bags and love them! I also bring my own reusable bags everywhere - I carry one in my purse just in case. I also have gotten in the habit of bringing my reusable coffee cup and if I forget, I just go without. It's really interesting the changes we can make by just being a bit more mindful. Great job on the changes you're making, Annalise!
