Erin's actions
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Simplicity
Less Screen Time
I will replace 30 minute(s) of screen time each day with other activities.
Simplicity
Needs Vs. Wants
I will adopt a "Needs Vs. Wants" approach and only buy things I need.
Food
Buy From a Farmers Market
I will purchase produce and meat from a local farmers market or food co-op.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 1 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Health
Healthy Sleep
Effectively working for sustainability requires self care! I will commit to getting 30 more minute(s) of sleep each night to achieve at least 7 hours per night.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Healthy SleepConsider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?
Erin Ballard 10/10/2019 9:49 AMIt would probably be helpful to turn off the TV earlier than I usually do. I know the "blue light" from phones and TVs affects your sleep patterns. Reading a book right before bed usually helps me get tired enough to go to sleep. I should replace some of that TV time with more reading. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Buy From a Farmers MarketWhat is one food choice that you make, or could make, that would do more good and less harm?
Erin Ballard 10/02/2019 2:24 PMI enjoy trying vegetarian meals from time to time, but it would be beneficial to dedicate at least one day a week to avoid eating meat. -
Erin Ballard 9/13/2019 11:55 AMI'm excited to take on these challenges and make some changes in my everyday habits!
