There are like-minded individuals willing to make a change to improve their environment.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

What is one thing you can do to help your community become more sustainable?

    Khalique Ahmed's avatar
    Khalique Ahmed 10/23/2019 11:20 AM
A community garden that grows fresh fruits and vegetables can help towards sustainability.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Explore My Area
How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?

    Khalique Ahmed 10/11/2019 6:41 AM
There are fewer distractions outdoors, so you can focus on the immediate surroundings.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Whole Foods Diet
Michael Pollan states that “it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor.” What are your thoughts on this idea?

Eating foods that are heavily processed may contribute to an increase in health problems.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Healthy Sleep
Consider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?

Try to avoid naps during the day so that you feel tired enough to go to sleep early.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

    Khalique Ahmed's avatar
    Khalique Ahmed 10/06/2019 4:47 AM
It does not surprise me, as food expires quickly, and not everyone uses it. I would rather use the money to pay other debts.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity De-Clutter My Home
How can you prevent yourself from accumulating more things in the future?

    Khalique Ahmed's avatar
    Khalique Ahmed 10/05/2019 5:47 AM
Try to sell items that you no longer need.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Zero-Waste Cooking
In North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?

    Khalique Ahmed's avatar
    Khalique Ahmed 10/03/2019 1:44 PM
You can compost the extra parts, or just eat the skin if it's edible (potatoes)

I don't know if this counts for the challenge, but on October 31, I will be volunteering with Treefolks to plant trees.

Trees are a vital part of the ecosystem, and they are very helpful in providing shade on a hot summer day in Austin!
