    I am having guests stay at my house and encouraging them to check all of the items they use to recycle. The kids are enjoying the game and counting all of the items they recycle. They are seeing how much waste they accumulate. It is making an impression on them!

    The next step I will take to reduce my waste is to send an email to all of the companies that send me (usually unrequested) catalogs and tell them to cease and desist.  If I really need to buy something, I can go look at their website (or their competition's website if they don't have one).  Very few things annoy me as much as unsolicited junk...

    I made very sturdy canvas bags that I carry everywhere with me.  If I find I've forgotten, I will buy the reusable ones sold in grocery stores, or, I will ask for paper.  I've never thrown a paper bag away without using it in 100 different ways... covering text books, wrapping a present (in a pinch!  and you can draw on them) or even lining a...
