My husband and I hiked 9 miles in Northern MI this past weekend, seeing all the folks out and about and exploring drove home how important it is to educate and preserve  the natural wonders around us for future generations to enjoy. Visiting visitor centers really demonstrated the importance to preserve after looking at the active animal logs and seeing how many animals (carrier pigeon, wolverine) just Northern MI has lost due to deforestation and pollution.
