I’m going to save the money that I get from my more sustainable choices

I think the challenge is going well, since I am now remembering better to log in. Either the things I’m doing are easy to change to or it is something I need to put extra effort into.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water 5-Minute Showers
Five minute showers are an impressive step toward reducing your water footprint. What is the next step you can take?

    Patrick Carnahan's avatar
    Patrick Carnahan 10/17/2019 5:32 AM
The next step I can take is making sure not waste water when cooking and to make sure to turn faucets off when I am done using them

I starting to get more in the habit of uploading my progress and for the challenges, it is either something that is easy to change to or something that I have to do extra effort to do.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Practice Gratitude for Earth
Kathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How do we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?

Having a feeling of gratitude makes us want to repeat those actions so that we can have those same feelings. Set up a small reward for eco friendly things people do like coupons or stickers.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Enjoy the Sunrise/Sunset
Father Thomas Berry says, "...our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." Respond to Berry's assertion.

I somewhat agree with Berry’s claim but I don’t really believe that our primary purpose in life is celebration. I definitely believe that enjoying and experiencing the sun set and sun rise gives an inclination of wanting to be closer to the earth.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Improve a Bus Stop
How can you advocate for transportation systems which minimize environmental impact while also meeting human needs?

    Patrick Carnahan's avatar
    Patrick Carnahan 10/15/2019 6:07 PM
Cities can promote public transportation that costs less than gasoline and parking for a car
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

    Patrick Carnahan's avatar
    Patrick Carnahan 10/15/2019 6:02 PM
Even though bottled water is very unstainable, we use it because it is very convenient and is easy to just store and bring along with us. We could make it a habit to use a reusable bottle water by storing it next to your front door or on your bedside table.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Exercise Daily
How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

    Patrick Carnahan 10/15/2019 5:56 PM
Try playing a team sport that you could play with your friends and family.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
